Ok ok, I know me finishing is not very interesting, but the information I learned from the book would be. Do you know, the current keyboard we're using now, was designed (however) for people to type slower. The QWERTY keyboard was created in the early 1870s by Christopher Sholes.
That's because, the original keyboard was too easy for typers, such that the speed in which they typed was so fast, it often cost typebars to clash and jam. Thus, Chirstopher Sholes came up with this QWERTY keyboard, to neutralise speed of type writing. But oh well, looks like it did work initially, but people get use to things, and look at us! We're speed typing all the time.
Veronika Decides to Die was a meaningful discussion of psychological terms, or rather, madness, insanity and mentality illness. That's why the QWERTY keyboard was mentioned. If someone were to change the keyboard back to ABCDE form, everyone would say he's crazy. Yet, so what is crazy?
Madness, insanity, and craziness were, actually, minority. Another great example Paulo Coelho mentioned was the neck tie men wear to work, and every NCHS student wear to Tuesday assembly. Whoever was the first one to design the tie, must be (haha!) mad! Because, like the character Dr Igor mentioned in the book, the only good thing about wearing a tie, is the sensation of removing it after he got home. And that the patients in his mental hospital calls it the color piece of cloth around the neck.
Sadly speaking, however uncomfortable the tie makes people feel, if you're the only one who decided to not wear a necktie (in an office where everyone does), you're the one who's mad! Simply because, you're the minority. Understand? Read the book to find out more!
Anyway, I was supposed to be at SPSU camp right now. SPSU as in Singapore Polytechnic Student Union (some sort of a CCA). Thing is, HX googled the reviews of the camp, and let's just say it didn't turn out that well. But oh well...
