2008: Films and Actors
5 Favourite Films
1. 早熟 2young

2. Les Choristes, The Chorus.

A story about a teacher, who went to his particular school specialised for 'problematic' boys, and formed a choir, despite the Principal's disapproval. I rmb one of my teachers showed us this film in class somewhere between P6 or sec 1. I watched it the 2nd time this year, and it still remained as enchanting, awesome and let's say melodious as before. The choir was brilliant, especially when Jean-Batiste Maunier sang the solo. Never in my entire life had I heard anyone sing and act so well! Oh yes, this movie was also one of the nominees in 2004 Oscar Awards for best foreign film.
3. The Leap Years
A story about a young Singaporean girl who met her dream man on 29th Feb, but fate only allow them to meet every 29th Feb over 12 years. I watched this film in cinema and was absolutely moved by them. And Wong Li Lin had done an awesome job in expressing the sense of lost, in the female character, Li-Ann.

4. 保持通话 Connected

A story about a lady who tried to save herself and her family out there, even when she was kidnapped: she tried valiantly to make phone calls to the outside world with a broken phone, and until finally, someone picked up the call. This, is the most exciting thriller I've ever ever watched! One can really feel the anger/exasperation and fear in the characters and story. It was actually adapted from the Hollywood film, Cellular, which was seriously far worse than the Asian Film. And, this film had gotten 2 awards in the most recent golden horse award.
5. 海角7号 Cape No. 7
A story about the irrevocable love between 2 couples, whereby in both cases, one of them is a Japanese, while the other, a Taiwanese, and such, the difference in nationality made it hard for the 2 couples to come together. A heart-warming film it was, and the story got a bit complicated at first, but towards the end, every thing was well explained. Besides, the songs they used were really nice. Also, they have won 2 awards in the most recent golden horse award!
舟舟 Zhou Zhou
Btw, I wanted to share this film, 舟舟, Zhou Zhou, with everyone. It;s a true story, and the story revolves around this boy suffering from down syndrome, yet he has a talent which little has. He is probably the only band conductor in the world, who doesn't know how to read music scores. He acted in the movie itself, and I thought it was more like a movie at the back, rather than a story. I wouldn't say it was very nice, but definitely worth a watch to understand this tale, and the moral behind it.

5 Favourite Actors
1. 庄米雪 Michelle Chong, The Noose
Damn, I couldn't find a photo of Adriana Wow or Barbarella. But anyway, I thought Michelle was the best comedian I've ever watched in years, but too bad she didn't get the best comedian award in the recent asian tv award. I'm sure everyone agrees with me that her hilarious accent, exaggerating make-ups, and sexy disposition in The Noose, was really wowish. Her act in Sayang Sayang was really funny too. The way she acted dumb, sotong and boyish was really natural.

2. 林湘萍 Yvonne Lim, 一切完美 (Perfect Cut)

Oh well, Yvonne Lim only acted in one episode, and that was obviously my favourite episode of the whole series. She's like the only actress in mediacorp who can act like an insane, or a two-faced bitch. In this series, she could really express her indignant as a social reject really well. Initially, I thought she would only look good for the first time I watched and that the 2nd time would be boring. But nope! I was wrong. While I watched the Chong Bo of 一切完美 on ChU, I still thought the episode was touching and as heart-aching as the first time.
3. 刘烨 Liu Ye, 保持通话 (Connected)
He acted really well as an evil man, and in case you don't know who the hell he is, he was the one who acted as the Crown Prince in the Curse of the Golden Flower. But anyway, his acting was really commendable and his eyes really speak like a murderous person. Everyone must really watch this film!

4. 李茵珠 Li Yin Zhu, 一房半厅一水缸 (Just In Singapore)
Hell, I doubt I can ever forget Zi Dong Sao. Anyway, her expressions and lines in the show was really hilarious. She can jolly well not speak and her face can still make me roll on the floor laughing. Especially the episode on Wonder Bra, wah damn funny! She could really act like a typical Kiasu, stingy, selfish Singaporean mannnnn. Li Yin Zhu speaks the heart of all aunties in Singapore, really.

5. Jean-Baptiste Maunier, Les Choristes (The Chorus)

This young actor can really act and sing well. Perhaps because of his mysterious blue eyes, which make them seemed like they can speak as much as he can act. Look at this picture! So inspiring. Anyway, he can really express his love, his fear, his anger, his arrogance really well in the show, even without much expressions or actions.
Hurray, I've FINALLY finished my summary of the year's entertainments I had. Yipeeee!
